Contemporary Art course is intensive in-depth program, with an honest and direct approach. We offer a unique opportunity to experience the reality behind art exhibitions, the Venice Biennale and curatorial practices. Participants meet artists and curators and have an exciting opportunity to see, feel and understand the Italian and international contemporary art scene. Morning: Meeting with curator of Time-Space-Existence, Palazzo Rossini. Guided tour at Palazzo Bembo. Afternoon: Visit to Peggy Guggenheim museum.
Morning: Design in Venice, curatorial point of view and case study (studio visit). Afternoon: Visit to Murano: Fondazione Berengo and School of Glass, Abatte Scuola di Vetro.
Morning: Finding your way in creative industry by Danielle Krysa. Afternoon: Galleries. The changing business model. (lecture and visit to Bel Air Fine Gallery)
Morning: Visit to Venice Design and Time-Space_Exgistance, Palazzo Michiel and Palazzo Mora. Afternoon: Visit to Punta della Dogana.
Morning: How to develop successful personal projects in art industry (workshop). Afternoon: Visit to the Venice Biennale: best projects of 2018. Evening: Boat tour around Venice.Certificate ceremony and prosecco.
Optional visit to the Biennale or pre-selected collateral events.
Meet your lecturers
You will meet international experts from all over the world. Here are some of the lecturers.
Painter, curator and writer behind the contemporary art website the Jealous Curator, author of numerous books on contemporary art. The Jealous Curator has been featured by Oprah Magazine/oprah.com, Fast Company, and Glamour Paris.
Omri is a designer based in Venice. His works have been exhibited in major design platforms such as Biennale di Venezia, Salone del mobile, Maison&Objet Paris, and were published in numerous design magazines such as Abitare, Living and New York Times. Omri Revesz currently teaches Industrial Design at IUAV University of Venice.
Academics, researchers and other experts from the art world present different perspectives and critical contemporary issues that confront professionals today. In addition, we visit relevant exhibitions and cultural institutions in Venice, Biennale included.
Rene Rietmeyer, program curator
Rietmeyer is president of the European Cultural Centre and artist mostly known for his own art form of the "Boxes", stimulated by American minimal art and the so-called new abstraction. He has organized events with artists such as Yoko Ono, Lawrence Weiner, Hermann Nitsch, Marina Abramovic and Mike Parr.
